As Social Media Graphic Designer for Oakland University’s College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), I designed and managed content across Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter/X. Starting as an intern, I was quickly promoted to Social Media Writer, where I took on additional responsibilities such as creating monthly content calendars and training new interns.
Project Overview
My role focused on enhancing the college’s brand identity, creating engaging posts about on-campus events, holidays, faculty/student achievements, and driving audience engagement. I also collaborated on print materials and wrote feature articles on professors while maintaining a cohesive presence across platforms.
The Challenge
The goal was to improve CAS’s social media presence by boosting engagement, strengthening brand consistency, and increasing visibility across various platforms. I developed strategies for creating content that resonated with the audience and used analytics tools to refine and optimize future posts.
Outcome
Utilizing my design expertise and strategic content ideation, I significantly elevated CAS’s social media presence. I boosted engagement across all platforms, with Instagram's reach growing by nearly 70% and a dramatic increase in follower count. Facebook’s reach expanded by over 200%, and Twitter/X saw a notable increase in impressions.
In addition to these growth metrics, I implemented a cohesive content strategy that resonated with students, faculty, and parents, aligning all content with CAS’s mission and visual identity.
