Greenprint is an anti-fast fashion project that promotes ethical consumption to help our planet through trendy and affordable clothing. This brand is 100% eco-friendly and accessible to everyone. I ensured this through using thrifted clothing as the base and screenprinting all of the designs myself using only sustainable materials.
THE PROBLEM
This project began as a way to express my dissatisfaction with the lack of accessible sustainable fashion. With the rise in popularity of fast-fashion and bulk consumption, we are creating more and more waste on the planet. Though many people have good intentions with donating their fast-fashion apparel, 84% of donated clothing ends up in our landfills. Not only this, but most sustainable fashion brands are expensive and inaccessible to the average person.
Greenprint was born with the idea of repurposing donated clothing with impactful designs using only eco-friendly inks to make a brand that not only displays an important message, but looks good in the process.
THE IDEATION AND PROCESS
I began the process with sketches for the apparel designs themselves, the logo/branding, and the social media campaign. After the branding was finished, I personally screen printed all of my designs, created an Instagram page. Finally, I conducted a photoshoot with my closest people modeling the fully repurposed apparel I had created.
MY FINAL THOUGHTS
Through designing my apparel, my campaign, and final exhibition poster, I have proven to myself that creativity, strategy and a passion for change is all one needs to create an impact. Fashion can promote social change, invoke joy, be accessible to all and still be completely sustainable in the process. Greenprint has taught me not only new skillsets, but has also given me the opportunity to use my career for something I am passionate about.
